Sesame Tempeh Skewers, perfectly paired with a can't-miss peanut sauce.
INGREDIENTS
-
1 block of Noble Bean tempeh, cut into 1-inch cubes
-
2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
-
1 tablespoon sesame oil
-
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
-
1 tablespoon maple syrup or agave nectar
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
-
1 tablespoon sesame seeds (plus extra for garnish)
-
1 teaspoon chili flakes (optional, for some heat)
-
Wooden skewers (soaked in water for 30 minutes)
25 minutes + marinating time
4 servings
INSTRUCTIONS
1. In a large bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, maple syrup, minced garlic, minced ginger, and sesame seeds.
2. Add the tempeh cubes to the marinade, making sure they are well coated. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours in the fridge for a more intense flavor.
3. Thread the marinated tempeh cubes onto the soaked wooden skewers. You can alternate with vegetables like bell peppers, onions, or zucchini if you like.
4. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
5. Grill the tempeh skewers for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are nicely charred on all sides. Brush the skewers with any remaining marinade during grilling.
6. Once done, sprinkle extra sesame seeds over the skewers for garnish.
7. Serve the skewers hot, paired with your peanut sauce for dipping.
