INGREDIENTS

240 grams of tempeh

1/4 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite kind, preferably a bit smoky)

1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari

1 tablespoon maple syrup

1 teaspoon smoked paprika (or to taste)

1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Your favorite cooking oil (for frying)

INSTRUCTIONS

Cut the tempeh into 4 equal pieces. In a shallow dish, mix the BBQ sauce, soy sauce, maple syrup, smoked paprika, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, and onion powder. Place the tempeh slices in the marinade and ensure each piece is well-coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, turning once.

Heat your cooking oil in a pan over medium heat (or BBQ the tempeh). Place the marinated tempeh slices in the pan and cook for approximately 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until the tempeh is caramelized and golden brown.

While the tempeh is cooking, slice the buns and prepare the garnishes.

Assemble your burgers. If desired, add an extra drizzle of BBQ sauce over the tempeh.
